It’s the summer season in Mumbai and things are quite heated. It’s important to keep your self-cool and stay away from a heat stroke. To make sure your body is hydrated and cool, we list down a few food tips to stay cool this summer.
1. Avoid hot food
Hot foods like spicy and protein-rich dishes generate heat, making you feel warmer than you already are and instead of full-on feasting with three big meals a day, try more frequent meals with small intakes that consist of a summer-friendly food portion.
2. Hydrate, hydrate, and… hydrate
If you’re feeling thirsty, you are already dehydrated. Drink up! Staying hydrated keeps your body temperature at an ideal level. It not only keeps you feeling refreshed, it plays a significant role in your health as well. If you tend to perspire a lot, keep in mind that you’ll need to drink more than someone who sweats less.
3. Avoid cold drinks with ice
Ice cold drinks only inhibit digestion and create toxins, also known as ama in the body. Your digestive system has a digestive fire that is responsible for converting food into energy. Drinking chilled is almost like putting off the digestive fire causing various health problems.
