Girl Makes Cookies With The Ashes Of Her Grandfather

Have you read about the Ash cookies yet? About how a student at Da Vinci Charter Academy in Davis, Calif. baked her grandfather’s ashes and fed them to her friends?

If you haven’t, here’s a breakdown of what happened.

  • On October 4th, the girl got cookies to school.

  • She and her friend distributed the cookies to at least 9 other students.

  • One of the two girls showed off a picture of the Grandfather’s urn to the kids she gave the cookies to.

  • Most of the kids who’d seen the urn and knew of the ash in the cookies ate them anyway. One boy said that it had a normal flavour, he also said “if you ever ate sand as a kid, you know, you can kind of feel it crunching in between your teeth. So, there was a little tiny bit of that.”

  • The kids who were unaware were horrified.

  • The Police opened a case, and the officers considered a charge for disposal of human remains in an improper manner. Or a charge for public-nuisance charges.

  • “I didn't believe her until she pulled out the urn," Knox said. "She told me there's a special ingredient in the cookie." He said he became worried after tasting the cookie. "I thought that she put drugs in it or something," he said.

Here, I chime in with my questions about HOW THE HELL DOES THIS NOT CONCERN PEOPLE ABOUT THE MENTAL HEALTH OF THE GIRL?

Today, you’re mixing your grandfather’s ashes into cookie mix and feeding them to your friends, who knows what you’ll end up doing tomorrow? Isn’t this how things begin and then escalate?

I just like to think that one of her friends texted her, asking to make “Hash Brownies” and auto-correct and/or swype texting turned it to “Ash brownies “ and her innocent little mind, accessed the first source of ash she could think of.

Yes, I would like to believe that this was all an innocent mistake and not a crime for the sake of entertainment.
