As we near the elections, news just gets even more interesting to watch. Every election season, almost all politicians have an election meeting or a rally where their supporters gather to listen to what their leader has to say.
However, most of them just go there for the free meal that comes after the meeting. In case you didn’t know this, like nightclubs have crowd pullers, politicians also have crowd pullers who gather crowds by either offering them money, food or in worst cases alcohol.
This particular incident happened in Muzaffarnagar where the supporters of a candidate ended up having a riot over Biryani! Nasimuddin Siddiqui a Congress candidate, held an election meeting at former MLA Maulana Jameel’s residence.
His supporters poured in the venue as they were told that Biryani will be served to them for lunch. As the meeting ended and lunch was announced, the supporters rushed to the stalls to get the first servings and ended up fighting. The fight then turned into a riot and several people were injured.
In a video that surfaced online, it can be seen how ruthlessly people are beating up each other. A few people picked up sticks and rocks to attack or defend themselves.
The police rushed to the spot and broke up the riot. A case has been lodged against 34 people including Maulana Jameel and his son Naeem Ahmad under various sections of the IPC and for violating the moral code of conduct. 9 people have been arrested so far.
Maulana Jameel had recently joined Congress after quitting BSP. He was elected from the Meerapur Assembly Constituency on 2012.
Do you think a good Biryani is worth fighting over?
