Coronavirus Pandemic Worsening Around The World: WHO

The World Health Organization warned against complacency, saying on Monday that the coronavirus pandemic is worsening globally.

The WHO also revealed that it recorded its highest daily tally of COVID-19 infections. The body revealed that cases reported on Sunday stood at 136,000 cases, the biggest number so far. Additionally, more than 100,000 cases have been reported in 9 out of the past 10 days.

WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that 75% of cases reported to the UN health agency on Sunday came from 10 countries in the Americas and South Asia. While he said the situation in Europe is improving, he warned that globally the situation is worsening.

Tedros also warned against “complacency” stating that "most people globally are still susceptible to infection". He also suggested some safety measures for people protesting, saying “We encourage all those protesting around the world to do so safely. As much as possible, keep at least one metre from others, clean your hands, cover your cough and wear a mask if you attend a protest."
