Researchers have found that alcohol has the ability to alter your DNA to crave alcohol even more!

“We found that people who drink heavily may be changing their DNA in a way that makes them crave alcohol even more,” says senior author Dipak K. Sarkar who is a professor and the director of the endocrine program in the animal sciences department at the Rutgers University of New Brunswick. 

This discovery may help in explaining why alcoholism is a powerful addiction and also help scientists discover new ways to treat alcoholism.
