Researchers have found that alcohol has the ability to alter your DNA to crave alcohol even more!

“We found that people who drink heavily may be changing their DNA in a way that makes them crave alcohol even more,” says senior author Dipak K. Sarkar who is a professor and the director of the endocrine program in the animal sciences department at the Rutgers University of New Brunswick. 

This discovery may help in explaining why alcoholism is a powerful addiction and also help scientists discover new ways to treat alcoholism.

Turns out heavy drinkers are at high risk of becoming alcoholics because their DNA has been reprogrammed due to their drinking habits!
