There are people who like their bread slightly toasted or well toasted but there are also people who like their toast Cremated! While I agree that almost burning your toast gives it a nice flavor, but it is actually bad for your health!
Researchers at the University of Texas in Austin have said that eating burnt toast can be very harmful to the body and even running a toaster in your house can send a flurry of toxic fumes in your house.
My house doesn’t have a toaster. So we end up toasting our bread on a flat pan on the stove. Turns out, that's even worse as it also leaves toxic particles loved in the tiny crevices of the pan.
As per this research, eating burnt toast is as harmful as breathing on a road that has been packed with vehicles. As per the recommendations from the World Health Organisation, air shouldn't have more than 25 micrograms of fine particles per cubic meter, but the researchers found that burning toast can fling as many as 3,000 micrograms of particles into the air.
The toaster plays a crucial part in releasing pollutants. Over time you put bread in the toaster, some crumbs or gunk falls into the toaster or on the heating element. When these particles are reheated multiple times, they produce a lot of pollutants and even ethanol which is a by-product of Yeast. Tiny crumbs of bread that come in direct contact of the heating coils produce harmful smoke that disperses into your house.
But Its not just toasting food that's harmful. As it turns out, even frying and roasting food can release pollutants. even common household items like scented candles release toxic fumes. These fumes can cause fatal diseases if they are ingested for a long time!
A good way to ensure your toast is not slowly killing you is to toast it till its slightly golden brown and make sure you clean the insides of your toaster every once in a while!
