Here Is Why We Should Stop Consuming Milk In India!

Everything from your morning tea to your butter chicken has some sort of milk product in it

Indian cuisine heavily depends on milk and milk products, everything from your morning tea to your butter chicken has some sort of milk product in it. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has led down some standards for Milk products in India but a recent study shows that about 65% of these products do not meet the standards!

In the early years of my life, I had severe allergic bronchitis. It was so bad that I couldn't sleep flat on the bed without coughing or puking. My mom used to keep the TV on mute all night so I could sit up straight and fall asleep watching the TV. Eating anything was next to impossible. So my only option to get nutrients was milk! It was during these years that I fell in love with milk. it is such a simple product and yet it is so diverse! Adding a few ingredients to it completely changes the taste and aroma of the milk!

I love milk! It is my go-to quick fix when I'm hungry and I'm not in the mood to cook something or I'm out of rations. But now that I've learnt disturbing facts about the white liquid, I'm constantly looking out for alternatives.

The main problem with these products is contamination and adulteration. The contaminant that is mostly found in milk is detergent which is used to clean the containers. Other adulterants such as caustic soda, glucose, white paint and refined oil are added to milk to make it seem thicker!

The sad part is that people are completely unaware of the effects that these chemicals have! while they don't have any immediate effects, they definitely harm your body in the long run. But the question is, how do we stop consuming that has been so deeply embedded in our roots?

Well, there are other milk options available in the market such as coconut milk, soy milk and almond milk. It may take some time to get used to these alternatives but they definitely are a healthier option!
