Here's What People Think Of The Friends Reunion Special

We spoke to some fans to see what they think about the reunion special.

The full cast of Friends is set to be reuniting for an unscripted special in May 2020. "Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together -- we are reuniting with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa, and Matthew for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire Friends library," Kevin Reilly, chief content officer for HBO Max, said in a statement. It will be filmed on the original soundstage used to shoot Friends, Stage 24 of the Warner Bros.

The special will be directed by Ben Winston, who will executive produce alongside Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, LeBlanc, Perry, Schwimmer and others. And while the news has made fans scream and screech with glee, there are some fans who would have preferred to have left the show as is.

We spoke to some fans to see what they think about the reunion special.

"Reboots, reunions, and remakes are always bad. Friends is perfect as is, anything more is just going to ruin the whole essence of the show. I love seeing the cast together apart from the show, but a reunion is just a little much. I get the hype, but sometimes it's better to leave things as they are." Pranav, 24, Engineer.

"I am excited, but with no expectations. I think the show has exhausted itself, in a way - every possible thing ever has happened. Seeing more may just be boring - some parts may be cool, like maybe seeing them be old parents, or hanging out as old people. But, there really isn't more you can add to the show at this point that will make it better. But it's going to be fun to see the cast back together." Namrata, 24, Writer.

"I am really excited to see it! The cast being together, and all the nostalgia it brings. I think it'll be fun to see what they do when they're older, you know? They're parents to adults and teenagers now, so that will add a great element to the show. Plus seeing what happened with Ross and Rachel maybe cool - do they get married? Who knows? So it could answer a lot of questions maybe." Sahil, 28, CA.

"I have zero expectations. I like the show as it is, and I don't want to change anything about it. Adding to it, I think will just ruin the whole show. There's really no need for a reunion episode. Maybe a reunion interview would be fun and I know I would watch the shit out of it. But, an episode special isn't really something I'm looking forward to." Bharat, 27, Vet.

"I don't know how I feel about it. On one hand, I'm really excited to see the cast reunite on the set, on the other hand, I'm worried about how bad it's going to be. Especially considering that it's unscripted and they are not comedians or improvisers. So I really don't know what to expect. I am really excited to see them share a stage again though, it's very nostalgic." Ritika, 25, Operations Manager.
