What is YouPorn SWYP?

Called SWYP, the application has been released by pornographic website YouPorn.It allows you to browse through adult videos and swipe on the ones you want to watch.

The app essentially has previews of popular videos and is meant for users who want a better experience while watching porn on their mobiles.

The announcement by the company revealed the reason behind the launch of this unique application. “In this mode, YouPorn provides a clean interface free of visual distractions, as only one video thumbnail is shown at a time. In addition, video previews play automatically once displayed on the screen, so no need to click play time after time.”

The video is inspired by the now-famous TikTok app focusing on delivering a video discovery experience. However, it is slightly different from TikTok. Firstly, it only has pornographic content. Secondly, the content is only accessible through a mobile browser and not a standalone application. This is probably because the application will never meet the privacy guidelines of Google Play and the Apple App Store. With both platforms strictly against pornographic content, such an app wouldn’t stay long on the stores.

My Experience On The App

To properly review the application, I had to try it myself right? So I got my phone and decided to go on the website alone.

Accessing the website is pretty simple. A quick Google search will lead you to it. You can even type the URL www.youporn.com/swyp/welcome to directly get to it.

The landing page is pretty sorted. It has a launch button right in front. Pressing it takes you to the video discovery interface of the website. The page also has a set of recommendations to enhance your viewing experience. They mainly revolve around how you should switch your orientation to landscape and you should log in to the website so that it can track your viewing preferences. You can even select the ‘Add To Home Screen’ option to have YouPorn SWYP on your phone just like a normal application.

I decided to do just jump straight to action and click Launch SWYP.

First things first, as soon as you do that the video clips will start playing. The video plays automatically, so there’s no play or pause button involved. So make sure you have your earphones on ( I found that out the hard way)

The interface basically is like your normal social media feeds. There’s a porn video that plays on a loop for about 6 seconds. A small thumbnail shows you the uploader of the video ad if you like the 6-second preview, you can even save it as one of your favourites. If you like what you see, you can swipe left just like Tinder, to watch the full video. You can then choose to view the video in portrait or landscape mode.

This feature is pretty dope, as it removes any friction and the constant swapping has also been known to keep the user engaged. Once you’ve swiped left the interface is like any other porn website. Press the play button to watch the video and adjust the timestamp to skip to what catches your fancy.

All in all YouPorn SWYP is an interesting innovation to the world of porn websites and applications. It is essentially an attempt to make things easier for people who have a difficult time deciding what to watch. By tuning it to your preferences, the algorithm only suggests you videos that you’re more likely to click on. So if there’s a particular category you’re swiping left a lot on, that’s the kind of videos that’ll be coming up on your thread.
