India Overtakes UK With 4th Highest COVID-19 Tally In The World

With 2, 97,535 coronavirus cases, India crossed the United Kingdom and is now ranked 4th in the world when it comes to coronavirus cases. India is placed after the US, Brazil and Russia.

The country also recorded 10,000 new cases of CAOVID-19 in a single day for the first time, with 10,956 people testing positive for the virus. The day also saw a record spike in COVID-19 related deaths, with the number standing at   396

However, in a positive bit of news, the government said that it is certainly not in the “community transmission” stage of the coronavirus pandemic.

Community transmission refers or community spread is said to occur when the source of contagion isn’t known i.e. when an infected patient is not able to trace the infection back to a carrier who has been to an infected area, or isn’t able to determine contact with a person testing positive for the disease.
