JNU Attacked By Goons Despite Police Forces Stationed Outside Campus

JNU students yesterday evening were targeted with stones by members of the ABVP, the student wing of the ruling BJP government with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the helm. Even as hundreds of social media posts sent shivers down the spines of onlookers at the manner in which students were bleeding and pleading for help, the Delhi Police did not take any action. Later, videos of the police escorting these ABVP goons surfaced, calling into question why the police were helping the goons. Reports show that on-call doctors, nurses and ambulances were all manhandled - the ambulances were broken down, and the doctors and nurses were mistreated and injured students did not get first aid. The ABVP goons according to student accounts and several photos were seen wearing masks, carrying lathis and hammers. Teachers were also injured critically. A screenshot of a WhatsApp group named "Friends of RSS" was released with messages coordinating locations, and updating injuries on the campuses. The Delhi Police stated that they did not have permission to enter the JNU campus and so did not act, people are questioning the authenticity of that claim, reminding the police of their brutal crackdown on the Jamia campus just a month ago, without required permissions.
