In a recent Instagram post, the Mumbai Police have given ‘LSD’ a whole new angle! While the underlying message of course is to stay away from the hallucinogens, the letters stand for something entirely different!
What are LSDs
LSD which is the abbreviation for the scientific lysergic acid diethylamide, are hallucinogenic drugs. Ergot, which is a kind of fungus, is used in the preparation of this synthetic chemical. This mood changing chemical is a psychoactive drug, that comes in the form of a white powder or a clear colourless liquid. Altered thoughts, feelings, and a cloudy awareness of one’s surroundings are the side effects, which often leaves the person ditzy. The Mumbai police decided to highlight how dangerous the potency of the drug could be, by asking people to stay away from the LSDs. However, with a twist!
Mumbai police LSD post
The Mumbai police ‘LSD’ post, which is featured on the official handle of the police, says “Let’s Social Distance (LSD) from ‘trips’”. The pun here, being ‘trips’, referring to the psychedelic experience one has after taking drugs. The post has over 206, 530 views! Viewers shared their amusement, by commenting with puns and emojis. One Instagram user wrote “one trip that's not going to be bad!” while another said “I'm trippin on this post for sure...who else is?”
Several users also lauded the creativity and pun use in the post, by calling out the Social Media team for spreading this message of this ‘anti-drug’ campaign in an innovative way.
The Social media team of the Mumbai Police have sure got a quirky side to them and we’re impressed!
