On Their Bad Trip Experiences #MillennialsSpeak

A bad trip refers to one's unpleasant experience after intoxication. In today's edition of #MillennialsSpeak, we asked them to share their bad trip experiences!

“I’m having a BT yaar” is one of the most common things you hear someone say whenever they’ve had too much to drink or have smoked up a lot. While the statement is usually said to convey that you’re feeling mellow after getting intoxicated, it can scientifically mean much more than that.

What Exactly Is A Bad Trip?

A trip essentially refers to a period of intoxication. It is a common misconception that you can only have a ‘trip’ from a hallucinogenic drug, while you can actually trip on alcohol and weed as well.

Good or bad, if you’ve ever had a trip you’ll know how it feels. The experience is eclectic. It involves hallucinations, finding things funny, being extremely hungry, having crazy thoughts and whatnot. While most people intoxicate themselves to get a  good trip, the dreaded feeling is one when one has a bad trip.

A bad trip basically causes you to have experiences that are unpleasant, and the ones that you’d like to forget. Put simply, it is basically an instance of your so-called pleasant experiences turning into a nightmare, when things go beyond the limit. Bad trips vary a great deal, from mild to intense, and can range from upsetting and overwhelming thoughts to frightening hallucinations and delusions that can lead to accidents.

While Bad Trips are extremely unpleasant for people who experience them, we decided to ask a few millennials to share their experiences on the same

“ I got a really bad trip after having pot brownies for the first time. I can’t really explain it clearly because I don’t really remember it. But what I can say is at that moment, I felt this urge of anxiety I’ve never felt before. I was at a party and all my closest friends were there, but during that moment all I could think of whenever I looked at them was how they secretly hate me and how they must bitch behind my back and whatnot. All crazy things I know, but at that moment, trust me. It felt too close to reality”

“ I had a very very weird experience after going out drinking with my friends. Usually, it’s not an issue, as I don’t really get drunk and pretty much remember the whole thing the next day. However this one time I didn’t even drink that much but I could feel my mind going in this daze you know? Like my thought process got really slow and I was fixating on each little thing too much. So it could be anything, like a street light, a vada pav vendor or even my friends saying something, It felt like I was just starting into an abyss for eternity. My friends later told me that it didn’t last more than 2 mins, which I found just mindboggling”

--- Kritika 21

“While I didn’t technically have a bad trip in terms of negative thoughts and I find the instance really funny now, but I once had a shitty experience after smoking up. So what exactly happened was that I and my friend smoked up and then he just passed out. But I got really hungry after he passed out so I decided to order in. While I remember the ordering in, to this date I don’t remember taking the order from the delivery guy. The only thing I remember is making this Zomato order okay... But I had apparently ordered 6 pizzas, each a SEPARATE ORDER! I collected each one of them and didn’t even eat a single slice. I found all the pizzas lying around in various corners of the room the next day.”

“Bingedaily does not endorse the use of any illegal substances, and we recognize abstaining from them is always the safest approach. But, we believe in providing accessible and accurate information to reduce the harm that can occur when using. If you or someone you know might be struggling with substance abuse, we recommend learning more and consulting a professional to get additional support.”
