According to a list compiled by Yahoo which explains dating terms of 2019 here are that you need to know – they may even be happening to you!

With new dating apps come more dating options. This is followed by several trends in the dating market that keep emerging as newer forms of unique romantic arrangements that change or evolve on a daily basis.

According to a list compiled by Yahoo which explains dating terms of 2019 here are that you need to know – they may even be happening to you!

Prowling

When a person you are dating to be interested and available for a period before they disappear entirely  can be described as Prowling. The however try and reconnect with you but only once you tell them that you have given up and are trying to move on. This behavior involves toying with your emotions, and the prowler is most definitely not worth paying any more attention to than you already have.

Pocketing

Whenever a person hides you away from others they're close to, they’re pocketing. You may be meeting this person regularly, but you would mostly be at a place that is away from the public eye. Consider yourself 'pocketed' in this case. Even after months of dating and spending time with each other, they do not introduce you to their friends, well you have been pocketed!

Ghosting

Ghosting was a term coined in 2014, but the behavior is still super prevalent five years later as well. If you are unfamiliar with this term, then it can be described as when someone suddenly vanishes into thin air to avoid the awkward break-up conversation.

Orbiting

Orbiting usually sounds like something to do with science-y or space-y stuff. However, this term was coined quite recently and explains one’s behaviour as a person who still engages with you despite the fact are no longer officially together.

They may interact with you on with you on social media. This might take the form of likes or comments or simply drop in your name around mutual friends so you keep thinking about them when the friends tell you. They are out of your life but still have some presence in that they orbit your social circle.

Cookie Jarring

This term refers to the practice of dating a person you've put in a reserve position while you're dating someone else.

It's disingenuous in so far as the person you have designated as your back-up option is unlikely to know this.  While it might seem safer to keep your options open, its always better to allow yourself time to get to know another, without the influence of others.

Instagrandstanding

If you are a single millennial, there is a high chance you have indulged in this. Instagrandstanding is about curating your Instagram feed with one person in mind – specifically posting pictures that will appeal to your crush.

If you show that your life is happy, fulfilling and successful, more people want to be a part of it. Putting out the most attractive, perhaps lucrative-looking parts of your life is something all of us are guilty of. And, may not be the best option out there to get your crush to pay attention to you.
