We all have that one food delivery app that we swear by. I never bothered to pick one because all I cared about was my food and as long as it came to me on its own, I was happy. But, of late, I’ve only been using Swiggy and I’ve gotten a little partial towards them. So much so that I challenged my friend Karan that Swiggy was better than Zomato. We placed a bet and the loser would have to pay the bills for everything that we ordered for this childish gamble. (Do Not Gamble)

The Challenge: We both ordered two items from two different eateries from both the apps. We place the orders at the same time. We contact the app 10 minutes after one of the orders and add a beverage and see if they accommodate our request. The winner would be determined based on whose order arrived first.



It was raining and Karan wanted to order vada pavs from “Babu Vada Pav” but it wasn’t available on Swiggy.

Zomato 1 - Swiggy 0 (Zomato has more options)

We settled for Pavs from “Pack-a-Pav”. Two pieces of Herb chicken seekh Pavs. The bill was INR 261 on both the apps.
The second order was placed at “coma coma”. We ordered a Veg fajita burrito. My order was for INR 295, whereas Karan’s was for INR 265. Same order, but Swiggy had extra charges because of the rains.

Then it was time to call and make a change in our orders. I decided to call customer service because I like that personal touch. Karan had to settle for his chat support because Zomato doesn’t have an option to call for help. Swiggy couldn’t make changes to the order since it had already been processed, so they told me to ask the delivery guy to get the drink and since the entire thing was CoD, I could just pay him. Zomato on the other hand, made Karan wait for 7-8 minutes after confirming the addition to the order.

Then we just waited for our orders. Coma Coma was a close battle, the Zomato delivery boy waited outside for 2 minutes giving Swiggy time to catch up and both the deliveries came through the door at the same time. The Swiggy delivery boy smartly walked in first and that’s why Swiggy gets another point.

My Pack-a-Pav came shortly after Coma Coma. Karan’s hadn’t even left the kitchen! The addition of that one drink pushed his order back by 15 minutes! So, guess who won guys…

SWIGGY!! Karan paid for A LOT of food that day while I enjoyed the fruit of the bet (the food).

I’m not saying Swiggy is the best, it definitely has a lot of flaws, but it gets your food to you faster and that’s all I care about on a hungry hangry day. Let us know which app you like more.
