Surf the internet for long enough, and you're guaranteed to find weird things. Often, not just strange, but disturbing, and downright unbelievable ones. Amongst these, The Red Pill Community often takes the cake.

The Red Pill is a community centred around the belief that men have been oppressed by the rise in feminism over the past century, or at least the latter half. Taking the Red Pill is a symbol for awakening to what they think is the "true nature of women."

This true nature, is, however, a frightening concept; and it gets worse when you realise that thousands of people agree with it. According to the Red Pill community, women are weak, sub-human almost, incapable of complex thoughts, emotions. They believe women always want sex, even when they say no, and are just "playing hard to get" or manipulating you.

Hence, as you may imagine, a lot of Red Pill discussions are centred around getting laid. (Is it surprising these people aren't getting laid that often? What's scary is that they refer to this as 'game,' using pickup-artist like tactics which they believe will improve their chances. In doing this, Red Pill propagates the ideas of "Alpha Men," basically the epitome of everything referred to when using the term toxic masculinity.

However, this above summary is just the tip of the iceberg.

Why Is It Called The Red Pill?

It comes from the legendary movie, "The Matrix." (Spoilers ahead, obviously. Just skip this section if you haven't seen it and want to and have avoided spoilers this long on the internet somehow.) Well, there's a scene when Morpheus offers Neo a choice between a red pill and a blue pill.

The blue pill would keep Neo ignorant to the true nature of the Matrix, while the Red Pill would wake him to the True Nature Of The World/

Well, that's what this bunch of dudes think they're doing: awakening to the true nature of the world, and women in particular. Yes, this sets the tone for how ridiculous everything about this is: yet, the sheer number of people who subscribe to the ideologies is honestly horrifying.

Well, What's Wrong With The Red Pill Community?

I would say I'm glad you asked, but I think even the summary given yet should be enough to raise eyebrows. However, it only gets worse from here.

Firstly, and most importantly, of course, is their views on women. (Click on the link at your own discretion.) Here are a few quotes that give you a rather clear idea of the mindset the Red Pill promotes:

- "Regardless of whether redpillers can be generalised as woman-hating, why is it bad to be a misogynist?"

- "Beyond sex, women provide no value."

- They're (Women) neither clever nor discriminating, nor worth talking to. They can be fun in casual conversations that don't go anywhere but they're absolutely incapable of anything deeper than musing about the weather or what is currently playing on TLC."

- "One of the key tenants of Red Pill is that women act like children... Red Pill holds that the cornerstone of a good relationship is male leadership. Sometimes that means treating her like a child."

-"Every woman wants to be attractive enough to be raped. It's like the pinnacle of male desire, where he can't stop no matter what."

-"I don't consider "no" to be a refusal of sex, nor pushing past that to be rape."

- "I will never respect women on the whole."

Moreover, by disguising their "tips" and "practices" with basic general knowledge like staying fit and self-improvement, as well as the usage of pseudo-science and "evolutionary" factors to claim to support baseless and sexist concepts, the Red Pill often traps men in vulnerable positions or times of their life and shows them that women are the reason for all their frustration. This can result in serious crimes and is definitely a step back for gender equality.
