The Salad Station- This is What You Need to Know!

Find out how our experience at The Salad Station was so you can know without visiting

The last time we put something healthy in our mouth and it tasted fantastically delicious may have been in a dream. But Gautham Kabeer, owner of the much reassuring and very new Salad Station is here to feed his patrons exactly that. “Getting into the business has always been a dream, but on a recent trip to Europe, I ate this really fresh salad which made me realize we have nothing like this in India,” he says sitting against the very Mediterranean backdrop of his adorable, little eatery.

But don’t let the four tables fool you, as we had to hanker for Kabeer’s attention from time to time because of how busy the restaurant was, that too, wait for it, on a weekday.
Kabeer and partner Vikram Vaswani seem to have hit the nail on the head with the plethora of salads, appetizers and healthy sandwiches on an extensive menu that lines the walls of their restaurant. But have also managed to woo the right demographic given the location they are in. Crammed between a row of shops in Lokhandwala, we witnessed a bunch of celebrities sauntering in, during our short time there, merely because of the cost effective, healthy options these two guys are serving up. A requirement for most people in the entertainment business is making salads every day, is a pain. The prep takes forever and honestly, any other health place is going to charge you double of what I do, without all the ingredients I put in my food,” Kabeer says.
And it’s true, the menu is replete with Kale, Norwegian salmon, Quinoa and other superfoods that are becoming easier to come by, but hard to consume because of how heavy it is on the pocket.
“I also tell everyone its pronounced Kail not Kale,” Kabeer guffaws.
It’s also refreshing to see the eatery guarantee quality instead of promising pure health food, which let’s face it, no eatery can deliver entirely. “I have butter garlic prawns on the menu,” says Kabeer pointing to the large wall, “I’m not a health food chain, but I will ensure quality and freshness of ingredients, without compromising on taste.”
Definitely try the smoothies; one big hit with a thick straw is bound to transport you into the bottled strawberry freshness. Salad station also serves up a Yuzu smoothie, otherwise pretty hard to come by. While you can make your own salad, with an endless amount of choices of base, protein, veggies, color, crunch, cheese, meats and dressing, also opt for their freshly tossed ones.
We loved the roasted chicken and couscous salad with a caramelized apricot dressing and the protein pack salad, but the Classic Mexican prawns Salad with the lemon mint vinaigrette stole our hearts and whetted our appetite.
