The train 18 is India's first home built engineless train that is set to make its maiden journey after successfully completing its test runs. The train is capable of reaching 180Kmph and will run between Delhi and Varanasi.
Train 18 is a swanky new project for the IRCTC and hence they are going all out to ensure that the train lives up to the hype. To ensure that the passengers have a memorable journey, the IRCTC has introduced a high end and elaborate menu that will be served to the passengers on board.
The food will be similar to what is offered on trains like the Gatimaan express but the menu will have more options compared to other trains and IRCTC has tied up with big names in the food industry to deliver only the best to its passengers.
In a quote to Business Today, an IRCTC official said, "The lunch for Vande Bharat Express will be loaded at the Allahabad (Prayagraj) station. This is from Pind Balluchi. The dinner on the return journey will be loaded from Kanpur station and is expected to be from a restaurant of the city's famous Landmark Hotel,"
Another official added that the train would serve patties, muffins and doughnuts instead of the regular railway breakfast of cutlet and bread.
The passengers travelling from New Delhi to Varanasi in the executive class will have to pay Rs. 399 for morning tea, breakfast and lunch and those travelling in the chair car will have to pay Rs. 344 for the same. And we have to say that these meals seem pretty affordable!
But all good things come with a catch and the catch here is that unlike other premium trains like Rajdhani, Duranto and Gatiman, the passengers cannot opt out of the meals!
