A restaurateur in Maine has come up with a way of getting lobsters high in a hotbox before cooking them! For decades people have argued about how the killing of lobsters by boiling them alive is unethical. I personally can't differentiate between ethical killing and unethical killing. Eventually, they are dying for our gastronomical pleasure.
But this restaurant believes that if they get their lobsters high on weed, they are happier and heavily sedated. so when they are boiled alive, they may not feel as much pain. They also feel that a happier lobster makes for a better meal. Dying a happy death is one thing, but being high and being boiled alive is horrifying!
The restaurant experimented the hot-box theory on a really aggressive lobster they named Roscoe. When she was taken out of the setup, he was significantly mellowed out.
The restaurant feels that since the lobster is going to die, it's more humane to give it a kinder passage. However, it is still unclear if lobsters and related species feel pain. But I'm pretty sore after an intense hot-box session, they won't feel a thing! I wonder if they are even alive after taking in so much smoke.
Despite the lobsters being loaded with THC, boiling them takes away the green and it is not possible to get a significant high out of it. I can only image how stoned out of her mind the restauranteur must have been to even think of something like this. Preserve that kush!
