Sometimes, the Internet truly seems like a gift. When you’re online and scrolling past your usual content, there always happens to be something extremely nice that catches your attention and heart! This time story that caught the Internet’s heart may have been international but stuck close home!
On Twitter, a picture posted by the photographer @Sarowarrrr with the caption, "A New York Love Story” of a same sex couple, overwhelmed the Internet for the nicest reason! Sundas Malik, one of the women in the picture is a Muslim artist from Pakistan and Anjali Chakra, her girlfriend is a Hindu originally from India! The post broke many barriers and stereotypical thinking. While many of us realise how childish our views are on the India - Pakistan brawl, its not often we acknowledge that - theres no real hatred between the two! Away from the rift’s created between the hindu’s and muslims in this country, their love flourishes!
Their pre wedding photoshoot pictures have now gone viral . They can be seen under transparent umbrella in the rain in New York City, being kids in love! Sundas even shared the post on instagram with an adorable caption that read “I’m usually the kurta to her lehenga, so coming up with family-ready femme wedding outfits was more than a little stressful for me.” We can see in the picture the gorgeous outfits worn by the couple - ethnic lengha and saree with ethnic jewellery! The couple truly looked to die for.
Same sex marriage in India even though not prohibited, is not legally recognised. However the new update on Section 377 decriminalised homosexuality is a big win and maybe we’ll be seeing some positive changes in the near future. However, the situation seems to worsen in Pakistan, that have no laws that prohibit harm or discrimination against the LQTBQ community and same sex marriages are illegal.
Up till now the post has gotten 3.1k retweets and 18.9k likes, going real viral! The people on Internet have responded to this post by praising and congratulating the couple. One Twitter user commented “this is so cute my heart hurts <3.” As we see a new love story break barriers, we look forward to many such stories.
