These days it does not take much to go viral. Everything from a talking baby to a crying adult goes viral almost instantaneously. However, if there's a donkey that's singing to a tune whenever he sees a bucket, that in itself is a viral video with merit!
Almost daily, the Indian web has a new music video that is trending. It usually features picturesque locations, famous music personalities and catchy beats. However, the most recent viral sensation is a bit offbeat.
Meet Emily, an usual singing star from Pune. Emily is a donkey that resides in the RESQ Charitable Trust in the city. Overnight, she's become an internet sensation after a video of her singing went viral online.
Emily started churning out those melodic tunes when the staff and other animals at the shelter started playing with her. The staff recorded a video of the animal showing off her talent and shared it on the shelter's Facebook page. RESQ Charitable Trust head Jessica Roberts said "Usually our videos have a lot of sick animals and animals being rescued, and it's generally heavy and sad. So for a change, we decided to put this video of Emily singing, and the response from the public has been amazing."
Emily's big white teeth and lustrous white coat, along with her singing drew likes and reshares from the entire online community. The video of her singing has garnered more than 30,000 views online. The appreciation has come from all corners, with the Twitter world never ceasing to appease us. Yogesh Daamle tweeted "Emily, the Indian girl has a modulation more typical of Indian folk singers or Hindustani gaayaks. Animals do pick from the humans around them."
So how did this talent of Emily's got discovered? Roberts has a theory for the same. "I think Emily's singing started because she likes to beg for treats. The moment she sees a treat bucket she starts singing,"
While Emily is not the first donkey to conquer the internet with her melodic voice, that credit goes to the Irish donkey Harriet, who went viral for her "operatic singing", she's the first one from India, and that in itself is enough a reason to love her.
