Too Hot To Handle Is A Must-Watch If You're Bored During The Lockdown

The fact that not having sex on TV now counts as a challenge to overcome is in itself a really bad premise. Nonetheless, here I am.

I am not big on reality TV, but I did binge-watch this entire series with a lot of interest. Who wouldn’t want a little brainless entertainment right now?

Too Hot to Handle, is an eight-episode reality dating competition with a hands-free twist: For every sexual act committed between players (which ranges from a peck on the lips to sex) a corresponding amount of money is subtracted from the group’s $100,000 jackpot. To add to it, the whole show is overseen by an Alexa-like robot cone named Lana.

The aim of the game is to develop non-physical relationships and demonstrate personal growth, but some of these people really couldn’t care less. Though they come from every corner of the planet, they all are basically the same old generic reality show contestants. They’re quite obviously attractive and pleasing to the eyes, and some of them are outright dumb.

So don’t get me wrong, the show is really really stupid but it will have you hooked, you will have to watch the entire thing. The fact that not having sex on TV now counts as a challenge to overcome is in itself a really bad premise. Nonetheless, here I am.

The contestants themselves have no personality as such - but they are horny, that’s for sure. Imagine thinking “I want to have sex and deduct money from the $100,000 jackpot because I am a sex obsessed mammal with no control whatsoever.” See, it’s silly. Maybe the fact that they can’t masturbate either makes them slightly more on the edge - but c’mon, it’s 100,000 dollars!

But the episodes are short, full of drama and cliffhangers and so disgustingly binge-able. The narrator, Desiree Berch is actually pretty accurate in the way you look at the show. Ridiculing the concept at times, but still staying extremely invested in the drama.

The whole “millennials only want hookups” story has been overdone but we can look past that just for curiosity sake. But overall, the show promises drama and then fulfils that promise. It is worth binge-watching because honestly, what else can you do?
