The ongoing tussle to capture drug pedallers continues in Mumbai as Mumbai's Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) on last Saturday captured two people who held a massive total of 47 kg of ganja worth Rs 9.4 lakh. The Kandivali Unit of Anti-Narcotics Cell has not only put the duo behind bars but also arrested the banned drug consignment in relation to the case.
In the news report by ANI, Datta Nalawade, the Deputy Commissioner of Anti Narcotics Cell said, "Mumbai Anti Narcotics Cell had arrested a 30-year-old woman with 24 kgs of ganja and a 42-year-old man with 23 kgs ganja in two separate incidents."
This arrest was achieved by laying down a careful trap after an intelligence tip-off. The ANC sleuths intercepted the two peddlers and caught the peddlers along with procuring 47 kg ganja from them.
“The accused male is a resident of Orissa and the accused woman was arrested from Malad area. Both of them were presented in court on Saturday and the court has sent the accused to police custody till February 12," adds Datta Nalawade
Thus after questioning, Mumbai’s ANC is carrying on further investigation to find all the customers and links associated with these two people.
This battle against the drug menace in the city is an ongoing one as drugs are often seen as commodities that are overused, especially by the youth. It becomes detrimental to their lives and hampers their role as a citizen in society. With drug addiction and abuse being rampant, the efforts to keep a check on it and punish the preparators are carried out in full swing.
