If you've looked at the CBD (cannabidiol) market recently, you've probably noticed a dizzying array of products, ranging from water, shampoo, and suppositories to CBD-infused pillows, gloves, and, yes, gummies—in a wide range of shapes, colors, and flavors.
Which product you choose is largely determined by personal preference and various product characteristics. Gummies have the benefit of being both convenient and tasty. Learn more about the benefits and drawbacks of gummies, as well as how to select a product.
What is cannabidiol?
Many people mix up CBD and marijuana, but while they are related, they are not the same thing. And they do not have the same effect. CBD is one of the two primary chemicals produced by the marijuana plant. CBD does not get you high, but the other active ingredient, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), does.
CBD can also be obtained from the hemp plant, which is related to the marijuana plant but contains less THC. Farmers have been allowed to grow hemp as long as it contains 0.3 percent or less THC since the 2018 Farm Bill was passed. (Learn how to tell the difference between CBD oil and hemp oil.)
What are CBD gummies?
CBD Gummies are candies containing cannabidiol (CBD) oil. They come in a variety of flavors, colors, shapes, and CBD concentrations. Gummies are a discreet and easy way to consume CBD, and thanks to effective marketing campaigns by many manufacturers, their popularity has skyrocketed among both long-term CBD users and nonusers.
Gummies are just one type of CBD-infused "edible," or edible product. They are shaped like worms, bears, and froggies and are patterned after regular gummies.
Gummies or other edibles can be a convenient, tasty, and discreet way to consume CBD. Pain management and anxiety or depression relief are two common reasons for using CBD.
Can CBD gummies make you high?
CBD gummies contain no psychoactive ingredients, so they will not get you high.
The main active ingredient in hemp is CBD, and CBD does not have any psychoactive properties. Instead, CBD has been credited with relieving anxiety, inflammation, insomnia, and pain, although "credited" does not mean proven.
Health benefits of CBD Gummies
CBD gummy manufacturers assert CBD has been shown to help with anxiety, depression, pain, inflammation, and sleep. The FDA has approved Epidiolex, a CBD product, to treat epilepsy.
CBD for stress and anxiety
According to new research, CBD may help with general anxiety as well as anxiety-related disorders such as SAD (social anxiety disorder). Participants' brain scans revealed changes in blood flow to areas of the brain associated with anxiety. According to research, CBD interacts with CB1 and CB2 receptors found in the central nervous system, which may alter serotonin levels.
CBD is still being studied to see how it can use these receptors to help monitor how the human mind reacts to anxiety. Researchers discovered that cannabidiol reduced anxiety while promoting a full sleep cycle in a recent study conducted in 2016 on the effects of CBD on PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and anxiety-related sleep disorder in children.
Serotonin has been shown to have at least 14 different receptors, but CBD specifically binds to 5-HT1A, which is thought to play the most important role in anxiety disorders; this scientific fact explains the anti-anxiety effects of CBD on rats exposed to stressful situations. CBD may help to counteract the brain damage caused by chronic stress, according to research.
Does it really work?
Studies on the efficacy of CBD oil only looked at pure CBD oil, not gummies. Even for pure CBD oil, there have been very few well-conducted trials to support its apparent health benefits, though research is expected to pick up now that laws distinguish between hemp and marijuana.
There is no scientific evidence that gummies work, though some people report a benefit anecdotally, and there is most likely a strong placebo effect (the act of taking something to relieve your condition makes you feel better even if that product contains nothing).
Be aware that CBD is a bitter substance, and many gummies contain a lot of added sugar to mask this taste.
CBD has shown some promise in treating anxiety and pain, as well as improving sleep, but the evidence is limited and mixed. Experts advise caution due to a lack of data on CBD's benefits and risks, as well as the possibility of drug interactions. Keep your doctor informed if you decide to try CBD. Furthermore, the FDA “strongly advises” pregnant or breastfeeding women not to use CBD or THC.
CBD gummies typically contain the following extract:
CBD isolate products contain only CBD derived from the cannabis plant. There are no other compounds present, such as THC.
Some people want to know that the CBD product they use is free of THC. CBD-only products can assist a person in determining the effectiveness of CBD without interference from other substances and compounds.
However, as previously stated, some research suggests that CBD containing other compounds may actually enhance its effects.
an extract containing CBD as well as all of the other naturally occurring compounds in the source plant except THC. That is, broad-spectrum extracts do not contain the high-causing component. If a gummy contains a broad-spectrum CBD extract, it means that, in addition to CBD, it also contains other cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids, with the exception of THC, along with the gummy's other base ingredients.
Because of the combined effect of all cannabinoids, this extract will provide a more comprehensive benefit than an isolate.
a cannabis extract that contains all of the chemical compounds found in the original cannabis plant. That is, this extract contains CBD, THC, other cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and any other chemical compound found in the source plant.
If a gummy contains a full-spectrum CBD extract, it means that it contains all other chemical compounds, including CBD, in addition to the gummy's base ingredients.
Where can I get CBD gummies in India?
CBD gummies can be purchased online in India through dedicated platforms. The country currently lacks the ability to purchase CBD in dispensaries or retail stores. However, there are online CBD stores in India that provide users with authentic and certified CBD products.
Elixir CBD Ltd, based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, are UK-based CBD experts and online distributors of CBD oils. Their products are high in cannabidiol (CBD), a naturally occurring compound found in hemp plants (cannabis Sativa L. family). Their CBD oil is made entirely from full-spectrum hemp.
Paul Pennington and Daniel Stott founded Elixir CBD in October 2017. Paul and Daniel became friends after Daniel treated Paul for a neck injury he sustained while competing in a grappling tournament.
Daniel is a registered osteopath, so they saw each other once a week for therapy. Paul was familiar with CBD's effects because he was using it for his health and well-being at the time.
