Nagaland is a state where you can find some of the most intriguing food. The state is a paradise for pork lovers. The locals love pork so much that they utilize almost every part of the animal in their food. 

But this one particular dish called Akini Chokibo is said to be a delicacy that not everyone can summon the courage to eat. Akini Chokibo is mostly made after the harvest season.
?When farmers harvest their rice from Paddy fields, they also look for small snails that are scattered across the field. These snails are called Chokibo. These tiny snails are collected, washed and then prepped for cooking. 

Akini refers to Perilla seeds. These seeds are oil seeds which are similar to sesame seeds. Apart from the seeds, perilla leaves are also used in Nagaland’s cuisine for their minty flavor. 

The snails and seeds are cooked along with fermented soybean and pork lard. The final outcome of this cooking process in a stew that is loaded with flavor and chunks of snail meat. The dish is served with rice and spicy pickle. But a lot of people like slurping the stew by itself.
